Second longest.
[edit]Mention that this is the second longest bascule bridge in the world makes me wonder, and I'm sure others, what is the longest. I think a brief mention of this in this article would be appropriate: "after the _____ Bridge in ______." There is a Wikipedia list of all the bascule bridges in the world, but who wants to take the time to scan six continents of draw bridges to find mention of the longest? The Charles Berry Bridge is a double leaf bascule bridge in Lorain, Ohio along Erie Avenue / U.S. Route 6 (US 6) and spans the Black River.[1][2]
History
The bridge is thought to be the second longest bascule bridge in the world, citing that it was considered the longest at the time of construction.[3][4][5][6] Some sources argue that this designation is challenging to confirm because of the different styles of bascule bridges and methods in how they are measured,[7] with conflicting information on which is the longest and why from credible sources.[8][9][10]
