This statement needs substantiation. What are the sources of such claims? What are the 'elegant' and 'refined' features from 'ancient' Chinese? Chinese from which period? Are there examples of such 'features'?

Problem with maps

Why not also include a map showing the whole Chaoshan region? The "city maps" in the current version of this article are deficient in that they don't show the surrounding area, so there's no context for where they are located.
