Chāhan vs yakimeshi note
[edit]I often augment English Wikipedia with Japanese Wikipedia to get the fuller picture on a specific topic. Here, it looks like Japanese Wikipedia distinguishes yakimeshi (ja:焼き飯) and chāhan (ja:チャーハン) in separate articles, while this article simply places the two words as synonyms. It should be noted that preferring the term yakimeshi over to chāhan is Kansai dialect. In standard Japanese, chāhan specifically refers to Chinese fried rice (of Japanese Chinese cuisine), while yakimeshi is a generic term which literally means "fried (yaki) rice (meshi)". --Nidaana (talk) 01:30, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
