"The Celon Indian Congress Labour Union was founded in 1940 as the labour wing of the Ceylon Indian Congress (CIC), itself formed in 1939... the Labour Union was renamed as the Celon Workers' Congress. It became a trade union with a seperate political wing, rather than vise versa, in 1950. In 1977 the CWC's political wing became a political party (also called the Ceylon Workers' Congress, and in effect indivisible from the union) and the union/party president Sovumiyamoorthy Thondaman, was returned to parliament..." I don't have any direct knowledge of Sri Lanka and its politics, so I'm going to wait before tackling this. If anyone has ideas about the best way to put both the union and the party together in this article it would be helpful. --Bookandcoffee22:01, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
