Etymology?
[edit]What is the etymology of the word Cevian? The section Area bisectors is misleading
[edit]The section Area bisectors implies that the triangle would balance along a median because the median divides the triangle into two pieces of equal area. But that does not suffice. The medians happen to meet in the centroid (center of gravity), but that requires some form of calculus to show. The center of mass depends not on the area but the distribution of the area. Other area bisectors do not pass through the centroid, and the triangle would not balance along them. See "Triangle Area Bisectors" at Wolfram Math World. -- Elphion (talk) 13:04, 5 August 2025 (UTC)
