Switched with Celtic (disambiguation)

[edit]

Switched this page with Celtic (disambiguation). Click here for the edit history to the current content prior to today.

Explanation of the change: in line with WP:DAB, Celtic should be the main dab (disambiguation) page; it's the straightforward article title people will recognize in the search box. Links should not in general point to the dab page at all; they should always point to the specific article from the dab page required by the context. The Celtic (disambiguation) page should redirect to the Celtic page: its purpose is to receive links that do want to point to the dab page; they can still point to it through the redirect but the title they actually point to means they don't look like they are accidental and in need of correction. If links appear to be misdirected in this way, they are frequently and repeatedly 'corrected' by people working on projects like disambiguation link repair (You can help!), much to the annoyance of the editors of the page!

People/Culture vs. Language

[edit]

I picked a link at random to fix. King Arthur (film) was the winner. However, I couldn't decide if "Celtic name" should point to Celt or Celtic languages. Right next to it was French names--also pointing to a disambiguation page. I gave up and fixed some typos. Straif 18:15, 25 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

It seems to me that in a case like that, the information I as a reader would want to know would be found in the article Celt. "What does Celtic mean?" The basic article would answer that in its summary. That is how I am generally resolving the links I am fixing. Sean Lotz 00:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why is there no mention of the Celtic Football Club... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.95.100.187 (talk) 11:33, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Weird redirects

[edit]

This article, which was previously called Celtic (disambiguation) has somehow become Celtic (Disambiguation) and redirects to Celtic F.C.. The article Celtic, which should contain the list of disambiguation pages, now redirects here. I have nominated Celtic (Disambiguation) for discussion since it's not a standard title, but an administrator needs to sort the whole thing out. (Do you follow me?)

The point is, Celtic should be made a disambiguation page, and Celtic (Disambiguation) should be deleted as it is not the standard way to name an article. I believe this is how it was before, but an overzealous editor has mucked it up a bit. ... discospinster talk 00:26, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
