Possible improvements
[edit]I would suggest that to be truly encyclopaedic the article should be more international. At present it focuses heavily on the Australian experience, not least because that was where the legal profession originated.
Much of the history of Australian celebrancy could be moved to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrant_(Australia) The same applies to some of the Related Entries.
I would also propose the deletion of this commercial external link: International College of Celebrancy website.

"Celebrancy program setbacks in Australia" section issues
[edit]I've applied the "POV section" template to the "Celebrancy program setbacks in Australia" section of the article; as-is, this section is heavily opinionated, and seems to be based entirely on a single biased primary source (an article from a celebrancy training institution). The section title could probably also change ("setbacks" is probably too charged), and I'm not entirely convinced the section needs to exist at all. If it does stick around, it could probably benefit from a complete rewrite and better sourcing. rcombs (talk) 10:12, 17 November 2025 (UTC)
- Good point. Poorly backed up. There are a number of strong newspaper articles featuring government mismanagement of the program. I will see if I can find them and give this section some backup. - Thanks for your courteous contribution. I have cut the section back to the bare facts.
- Australia led the world on the establishment of civil celebrants. It was significant in that the change substantially altered the nature of celebrancy in Australia, and then the world, with a ripple effect. The article in the Age was a big one (2 full pages?).
