The painting by Jan Steen is NOT about caudle makers.

[edit]

The painting by Jan Steen, used as illustration for caudle makers, is only called 'caudle makers' sinds 1881. However, according to the Mauritshuis that has this painting in ites collection, this is not correct. The painting probably depicts a quack in action. . So this painting should be removed from the illustration for caudle. It is a pity that this wrong title has resulted in the use of this painting in all kinds of articles about caudle. Ok, removed - nb, the Mauritshuis still calls it de kandeelmakers. Johnbod (talk) 13:10, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
I know. There are more paintings (f.e. in the Rijksmuseum) that have wrong titles. I have informed them, with documentation, but nothing is changed. Cmuusers (talk) 09:02, 15 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
