Talium dei regnum

The article provides the translation "Children represent the kingdom of God" and claims it is from Matthew 19:14. This seems unlikely because the Latin text there is "talium est enim regnum caelorum" ("for of such is the kingdom of heaven"). On the other hand, Mark 10:14 writes "talium est enim regnum Dei" ("for of such is the kingdom of God").

In either case, the translation ("Children represent the kingdom of God") seems rather extravagant and is not verifiably sourced (Senior School Diary 2007 ?). The only source at the school I can currently find is this newsletter: http://www.cathedral.qld.edu.au/assets/files/2010%20PDF%20Documents/The%20Connection.pdf where there is a quiz on page 9:

Q. 12: "What is the motto of The Cathedral School and what does it mean?"

A: "Talium Dei Regnum – children are the Kingdom of God"

That is not the translation currently provided in the article, and frankly, it seems just as extravagant. There is no source on the school's website for the motto's English translation or its origin, and the biblical origin given in the article fails verification.

I suggest that the motto and everything around it ought to be removed until these matters can be resolved. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 05:00, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
