Name / interwiki links

I tried to remove the disambiguation problem with this article! In the Gaelic language 'Castlepollard' is known as 'Baile na gCros' (Reference:https://www.logainm.ie/ga/s?txt=Castlepollard&str=on ) and given that there is more than one place known as 'Baile na gCros' this can cause a disambiguation problem! For instance, if one selects 'Gaeilge' on the 'Calepollard page' one is sent a the wrong place ..this being 'Baile na gCros' in County Down, known in English as 'Ballynagross' in English! To solve this matter I tried to rename Castlepollard as Castlepollard (County Westmeath) and the other as Ballynagross (County Down) or in Gaelic 'Baile na gCros (Contae na hIarmhí)' and 'Baile na gCros (Contae an Dúin), however I have not been met with much success...maybe you can fix this problem.Ériugena (talk) 16:48, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi. I may be misunderstanding the issue, but you do not need to move/retitle this article to solve an interwiki linking issue. The interwiki links (directing to the articles covering this topic on Wikipedia projects in other languages) are based on the related Wikidata entry. To fix an error in an interwiki link (between the different language Wikipedia projects) you could just remove or change it in the Wikidata entry. Given that the issue seems to be with the GA interwiki (to the Irish language article), I have just removed it. Guliolopez (talk) 17:16, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

Respectfully you appear to have created this issue yourself. By changing the scope of the Baile na gCros article on the GA Wikipedia. So that it no longer dealt with the town in Westmeath. And dealt with the townland in County Down instead. Not to put too fine a point on it, but you shouldn't have done this. You should have simply created a new article on the Down townland. Not "hijacked" the existing title. I have attempted to address this issue also. And replaced/restored the interwiki in the wikidata entry. (If you feel that ga:Baile na gCros should be a DAB page, then fine. But ideally you wouldn't just decide to hijack existing titles - entirely changing their scope from one topic to another...)
