Case Closed as a title on NA/EU English seems been dropped

According to Detective Conan World fanwiki (https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Case_Closed), the usage of Case Closed title have been dropped.

First, you should never cite wikis as evidence. They are user-edited, so they are not reliable sources. As for the title, it has more to do with the anime adaptation than the manga. A split was made a few months ago, so I suggest taking this discussion there. Viz Media continues to publish the manga under the title Case Closed, and there are no indications that they will change it. Xexerss (talk) 05:46, 13 October 2025 (UTC)

Obviously there's no harm in waiting for the edition to come out next year, but I'm not sure why you think they might not release the manga they've just announced? In their announcement post, they specifically state "published under its original name". Add the universe/city it is based in?

True, Case Closed/Detective Conan is based in Japan, but it takes place in a fictional town called Beika 米花, which is based on Baker. We should have a section based on the universe/locality surrounding the anime, even if it is fictional. A1B1C301 (talk) 14:09, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

It may be too soon to determine a new WP:COMMONNAME, but with the manga and anime now under its original title in the US, it's something too keep an eye on. I agree with Link20XX, and I think we should at least wait until Viz Media starts publishing the manga under the title Detective Conan before making major edits regarding the title to the article. Although personally, given the recent release of the anime in English (including select episodes and films) under the title Detective Conan, I would support an eventual name change for the article. By the way, this edit made by @WeirdoTZero, claiming that the series was formerly known in English as Case Closed, is misleading, because the release of the manga under the title Detective Conan would apply to the new edition that is set to be released by Viz Media. At no point has Viz Media stated that it will stop publishing the regular edition of the manga under the title Case Closed. Xexerss (talk) 00:58, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

• Weak Support Wait. I would be more supportive of the change if this new edition had already been published, rather than now that it has only just been announced. Still, as I mentioned in the discussion above, several related works have recently been released in English under the title Detective Conan, and although I don't have concrete evidence at this time, I'm sure the series has become better known under that title in English-speaking territories recently than it was more than 20 years ago (specifically in North America). In any case, I must point out that your claim that the anime has never used the name Case Closed is completely false. The anime was released first in North America by Funimation under that title, and Viz adapted the manga based on Funimation's localization. • Wait I'm not opposing this move entirely, but I think that we should wait for Viz Media to actually release it under the Detective Conan title before we should make the change. WP:THEREISNORUSH to update and it would be in violation of WP:CRYSTAL to make assumptions about future events.   On an international lens this has been the dominant English common name, and I personally believe that Viz Media releases should not be the sole point of consideration, like how Roronoa Zolo isn't the English common name for the character despite being the Viz Media name.   This discussion came to the consensus to use the Viz Media title back then and, despite its age, I think most of the arguments they mention still apply. The Roronoa Zo(r/l)o case is a particularly specific issue, but the general consensus across the board is to use the manga publisher's translation. A counterexample would be that Fullmetal Alchemist uses "Lin Yao", even though only the Viz Media translation does so. Again, there is no rush to change anything.
