I suggest revising the second paragraph of the Career section. For transparency, I have a conflict of interest as I am making this request on behalf of Henkel.
Current wording:
- In October 2019, Knobel was appointed to succeed Hans Van Bylen as CEO of Henkel as of January 1, 2020.[1][2][3][4] He resigned from his position as Deputy Chairman of the supervisory board of the Bundesliga Soccer Club Fortuna Düsseldorf at the end of 2019 in order to fully concentrate on his duties as chairman of the management board of Henkel.[5]
Proposed wording:
- On 1 January 2020, Carsten Knobel became CEO of Henkel, succeeding Hans Van Bylen.[6] During his tenure, Henkel combined its laundry and home care and beauty care businesses into the Henkel Consumer Brands division. The German business newspaper Handelsblatt described this as the “largest transformation in Henkel's history”.[7]
The revised wording of the first sentence would focus on the date Knobel actually became CEO, rather than on the earlier decision to appoint him. I suggest retaining only one source, preferably the ESM Magazine article, which confirms both the effective date and the succession. Alternatively, the following Henkel press release, published immediately before the change took effect, could be used: Carsten Knobel new CEO and Marco Swoboda new CFO of Henkel.
I also suggest adding a major development during his tenure: the combination of Henkel's laundry and home care and beauty care businesses into the Henkel Consumer Brands division, supported by reporting from the German business newspaper Handelsblatt.
Knobel's resignation from a supervisory board position at Fortuna Düsseldorf is not part of his career at Henkel, so I suggest removing the sentence from this section. I will follow up with a separate request for Other activities that will include a shortened version. Kathryn at Henkel (talk) 14:03, 27 August 2026 (UTC)

The Other activities section appears to be incomplete and partly outdated. For transparency, I have a conflict of interest as I am making this request on behalf of Henkel.
I suggest replacing it with the following:
- Other activities
- Current positions
- Deutsche Bank, Member of the Supervisory Board (since 2026)[1]
- Kühne Holding, Member of the Board of Directors (since 2023)[2]
- Verband der Chemischen Industrie (VCI), Vice President[3]
- Federation of German Industries (BDI), Member of the Presidential Board[4]
- Baden-Badener Unternehmer-Gespräche (BBUG), Member of the Board of Trustees[5]
- Former positions
- Deutsche Lufthansa, Member of the Supervisory Board (2018–2026)[6]
- Fortuna Düsseldorf, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board (until 2019)[7]
This revision would add Knobel's current roles in the VCI and BDI, replace the outdated citation for his current BBUG position. It would also present two noteworthy former roles.
I also suggest omitting the advisory board position at the Henkel Center for Consumer Goods. As the center is funded by Henkel and closely connected to the company, so not really a distinct external activity.-- Kathryn at Henkel (talk) 13:51, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
