Culture section? Would anyone be interested in adding a section on Cairncastle's growing arts and heritage scene, centred on the Ulster-Scots revival that is gaining prominence in some parts of Northern Ireland (and also in Donegal)? Since 2000, Cairncastle has been running an annual festival of music and dance; July 2010's festival was a five-day production with around 30 performing acts, several workshops, and open session involving 40+ musicians. During the year, Cairncastle hosts monthly music nights on a smaller scale, as well as Highland Dancing classes for youngsters. These cultural offerings were initially hosted by the local Orange Order lodge. Although they maintain that tie, Cairncastle Ulster-Scots has become a phenomenon in its own right, and it's a notable fact about the village and this area of E. Antrim.
