I have added a section to make it clear that phoneticians cannot work with an unlimited number of vowel qualities. I have cited Ladefoged's work, and it would make the point much more eloquently if I could add in his diagrams and the recording of Scots Gaelic he used. Unfortunately, I imagine copyright problems would rule against uploading this to Wikimedia. RoachPeter (talk) 16:25, 23 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

That’s probably right, though you might as well receive a positive reply when asking Peter’s publishing house if they could kindly concede their rights regarding these few particular items to the public domain for educational, scientific and any other use.
