This article does not have any notability. The New York Times article discusses the novel idea for car garage rentals, and that should be a generic page rather than a specific commercial page. There are hundreds of thousands of websites dealing with these issues, and there would need to be a notable reason to describe this website. Was it the first of its kind? Article is now substantially different than the one created by the (alleged) paid editor , so the (alleged) paid editor should not be considered a "major contributor". Oh, sorry, I'm sure you said that the article creator was a newcomer who is not a paid editor. In any case, you have made some nice improvements to this undeclared paid article that was created in violation of the Terms of Use. Whether that is really a good idea is another question. Based on what I have seen, I can not say that I am 100% sure that the article creator is a paid editor. However, even if he was the issues of COI, advertising, and notability have been resolved, as the article has pretty much been rewritten. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 22:41, 16 February 2015 (UTC)

The article's ownership and personnel information is outdated, so per WP:COI I am requesting that an uninvolved editor review and implement the replacement text below. Key changes: (1) the officers listed in the current article (CEO/CTO) are no longer accurate and are removed as unsourced; (2) CarProperty.com was taken private under new ownership in January 2024, reflected in its published Terms of Use; (3) history expanded with independent coverage and public records. Note for the reviewing editor on the ownership change: the transaction was private and received no press coverage. Two public records corroborate it: (a) the Wyoming Secretary of State business registry (Filing ID 2009-000565160) shows that Car Property Group, Inc. — organized in 2009 as Car Property Group, LLC and converted to a corporation in 2016 — was listed as "Inactive - Administratively Dissolved (Tax)" effective March 11, 2025, and its most recent annual report (filed December 2023) names officers inconsistent with those in the current article; (b) the site's current Terms of Use no longer identify Car Property Group as the operator. Per WP:SYNTH, the article text below is limited to what each source states on its own.

CarProperty.com is an American online real estate marketplace specializing in properties with automotive utility, including homes with large garages, vehicle storage facilities, motorsports real estate, and commercial properties zoned for automotive use. The site was created by Robert A. "BC" Cross, a former software company owner turned real estate broker, through Car Property Group, formed in 2003; the Wyoming entity was organized in 2009 as Car Property Group, LLC and converted to Car Property Group, Inc. in 2016. The site launched in beta in 2007 and left beta on June 19, 2008. CarProperty.com was taken private under new ownership in January 2024; the owner was not publicly identified.

History

Cross, based in Mountain View, California, created the site after concluding that "the real estate system for tracking properties ignore[d] garages." Ahead of its full launch the site was featured in the KNBC4 Los Angeles LX-TV segment "Mega Garages" (May 2008) and in Angeleno magazine's "The Garage Mahal" (March 2008). Launch coverage included the San Antonio Express-News, the St. Paul Star Tribune, and the Colorado Springs Business Journal. In January 2010, a New York Times Wheels blog post, "But How Big Is the Garage?", highlighted site listings including a Georgia home with a 15-car garage. In January 2012 the site was included in a Toronto Star feature on garage-centric real estate, "When a Garage is Gold". The following month, the site's listing of singer Whitney Houston's former Mendham Township, New Jersey mansion drew coverage including the Toronto Star. In May 2012, Business Insider covered the site's listing of actor Christopher Meloni's Manhattan condominium, which included a Porsche in the sale. A 2013 Inman News profile described the site as a destination for buyers whose car collections exceeded conventional homes, noting auctions it promoted for a Newport Beach mansion with space for 18 cars and a former Chevrolet dealership in Jonestown, Pennsylvania. In 2020, Top Gear's Christmas gift guide included the site's $8.5 million listing of Oregon Raceway Park, and in 2023 The Drive highlighted racetrack properties listed on the site, including a $2.8 million dirt oval speedway in Oklahoma. The site reported surpassing 10,000 listings in May 2023. In January 2024 the site was taken private under new ownership, communicated through its Terms of Use and notifications to registered members. The Wyoming Secretary of State's registry lists Car Property Group, Inc. as "Inactive - Administratively Dissolved (Tax)", effective March 11, 2025.

Features

Listing categories include houses with large garages, racetrack and motorsports real estate, vehicle storage and car condos, automotive commercial real estate, and collector vehicles; a Garage Search tool filters properties by number of garage spaces. The site operates as an advertising marketplace and is not a real estate brokerage.

• Partly done I removed the company personnel from the infobox as unsourced. The source from the state of Wyoming just links to a website to search their database. Most of the rest of this just summarizes the routine business activities of the company, which doesn't contribute to notability per WP:ORGDEPTH. Quite frankly I'm not sure that this company meets the criteria to merit an article currently; notability is not inherited by association for having notable customers. 331dot (talk) 10:51, 17 September 2026 (UTC)

Two responses: (1) On the Wyoming citation — fair point about the link; the record is retrieved by searching Filing ID 2009-000565160 at that page, and I have amended the citation to say so. (2) On ORGDEPTH — I take the point about routine coverage, but I'd ask you to weigh the Chicago Tribune (Jan 30, 2009) and Detroit News (Sept 5, 2007) features, which are full articles about the website itself rather than its customers, alongside the NYT, Toronto Star, and Inman pieces.
