Not a viable source of caprolactam?

[edit]

As of 2009-08-14, the article stated that Producing Caprolactam via Caprolactone is not a commercially viable route — but gave no sources for that claim. However the "Production and uses" section claimed the opposite, and cited a source. So I removed the above statement. Would anyone please clear the contradiction? Thanks, and all the best, --201.82.133.122 (talk) 00:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I suspect the key phrase is "in situ". If I had to guess, probably it is not viable to prepare caprolactam from purified caprolactone, but if you were to prepare crude caprolactone then convert it without purification (as implied in the article) that probably is viable. I think you did right, though - what you removed should have had a reference to back it up, otherwise it did just look like a contradiction. Thanks! Walkerma (talk) 04:04, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
