Drmies: I do think that the sentence on the counter-intuitive nature of cangiante ought to be restored. The whole heart of the matter is that brightness information is more important than color information in viewing and understanding a scene. Cangiante is not just an obscure painting term of 500 years ago. The visual concerns of the Renaissance artists are exactly the concerns we have today whether we're using Painter XI or Photoshop. By removing the sentence you take out the entire point of the article.

Wers: I have concerns about the fact that all the entries on the "canonical painting styles" are citing the same specific person exclusively, and I didn't see any incredible evidence to suggest that it's "widely accepted."
