FRANK?
[edit]Been getting flyers from CanadianTire including FRANK products. Is FRANK a Canadian Tire store brand?? The FRANK page at canadiantire.ca isn't that helpful, but says "To recommend a new partner for FRANK+ to collaborate with, email FRANKfinds@cantire.com", which makes me think they are selling FRANK products at places that are not CanadianTire. howhigh.ca/branding-design/frank/ says FRANK is a "private label brand" of Canadian Tire. A Globe & Mail article from 2016 describes FRANK as a "private label" (but also talks about them competing with Amazon.com while planning to sell via other Amazon websites, which has me partially confused and wanting to smack someone at CT. I'm recovering from pneumonia so I'll just end this comment here) -EarthFurst (talk) 21:50, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
Customer service
[edit]I have seen post-Covid their in store and corporate customer service has sharply declined. Not the store level employees providing customer assistance, but the store/shift managers being rude to employees and customers in the open. I have experienced it first hand, and also witnessed it upon others multiple times at 2 seperate stores. Corporate customer service representatives provide what feel like prewritten responses and dodge/deflect questions, when further asked for follow up they become more dismissive and 'short'/attitude.
Very poor to see, and worse to experience. Canadian Tire has become a store I only shop at when things are on sale - see something you want? Wait a week or two and it will be 30% off. It's just not the store it was 5 years ago, and certainly not the Canadian staple it was 20+ years ago. 64.58.42.231 (talk) 15:00, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- You need to provide reliable sources, not your own original research and opinion. Additionally this is not the customer complaints department nor a review and opinion website but an encyclopaedia. Canterbury Tail talk 15:05, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
French translation in lead
[edit]Hey there User:Canterbury Tail, I see you re-inserted the French translation into the lead. I went to Google Maps and looked at a bunch of Canadian Tire stores in Quebec, and none of them use the French spelling, such as this store 46°33′19″N 72°45′03″W / 46.55533°N 72.750832°W in Shawinigan (Google Map links are blacklisted). I agree that buried in their website is the French translation, but when all your stores in the province say "CANADIAN TIRE" in huge letters on the front of the store, I wouldn't really describe this as being "closely associated with a non-English language", per MOS:LEADLANG. Perhaps the translation could be added elsewhere? Magnolia677 (talk) 00:09, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- I'm cool with that. Not going to make a fuss here, and I hear your reasoning and it's sound. It does also come down to "name in French" or "French translation" and I think that that name is a French translation rather than a full name in French. Canterbury Tail talk 02:04, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Canterbury Tail: Awesome. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 10:49, 3 February 2025 (UTC)
Split page
[edit]I think that the page should be split into two articles between “Canadian Tire Corporation” (company) and “Canadian Tire (department store)” (store) similar to HBC and Hudson's Bay (department store). Mighty Machines Fan Canada (talk) 18:47, 27 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose Mighty Machines Fan Canada gives no valid justification for such a split. Just because we have some other article which is split is not a reason to split this one. I don't see Canadian Tire being comparable in any way to the 350+year history of Hudson's Bay Company, which at one time controlled a good part of what is now Canada, and even parts of what is now the US. Canadian Tire is a relatively small article at 56k, , and Hudson's Bay (department store) alone is more than that at 58k, while Hudson's Bay Company is more than 190k. Meters (talk) 07:11, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- There should be a page for the store and a page for the store's parent company. Mighty Machines Fan Canada (talk) 19:09, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
- You already told us that you think that. What I want you to do is to justify the split. Why should this relatively short article be split? Because you think it should be split is not a valid reason. Meters (talk) 07:53, 29 July 2026 (UTC)
- There should be a page for the store and a page for the store's parent company. Mighty Machines Fan Canada (talk) 19:09, 28 July 2026 (UTC)
