Sicilian surname

[edit]

Added information. Camilleri or Camillieri (ant. Camidderi) is a surname of Sicilian origins (including Malta, once part of Sicily). Today the surname can be found throughout Italy, Europe, and the World as a result of mass-emigration from the island of Sicily.

Please use the Talk page before making any unwarranted edits. Camilleri is a Sicilian surname and in it's current form originates in the orthography of the Old Sicilian language. It is not Italian, Greek, Spanish, or Catalan, but Old Sicilian. Old Sicilian was also the administrative language of Malta. Due to Malta's relationship with Sicily as part of the Kingdom of Sicily, and possibly due to immigration, the Camilleri surname is very common in Malta as well. See my post from 2008 above for more. --Siciliano69 (talk) 19:28, 6 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
