Numbering

[edit]

The BR number series contains an extra number, 56230. Can anyone explain this or is it a mistake? Biscuittin (talk) 17:52, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

56230 was ex-LMS 16230, ex-CR 650. It was built 1905 as the last engine of order Y74, the first nine of that order being CR 641-9, LMS 16295-303. It's unclear what the basis was for the LMS numbering: typically they would be either in order of construction, in order of rebuilding or (less common) in order of pre-group numbers. None of these seem to apply here. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:42, 20 February 2012 (UTC)Reply
