Calandagan (foaled 27 January 2021) is an active Irish-bred, French-trained champion Thoroughbred racehorse. He has won multiple Grade 1 (G1) race across the globe, and was named the 2025 Longines World’s Best Racehorse by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA). Placing third or higher in all of his races, Calandagan won his first G1 victory at the 2025 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, winning a further three more G1s by the end of the year. The last of these, the Japan Cup, was the first victory by a Thoroughbred from outside of Japan since Alkaased in 2005. In this race, Calandagan broke the world record for 2,400m on turf with a time of 2:20.3.

Race distance conversion table

Quick note, I've added a distance conversion ala Northern Dancer amongst several other horses. Unlike other horses with this table, Calandagan's run a lot of race distances that are almost but not quite the same since he's run in so many different countries, so some of the rows could be trimmed if desired by anyone.
