Are there any compatible modern tape media that work with this antique device? I picked one up without tape, and I have no idea what is a compatible media to make it work again.
Tape media varies in formulation and magnetic coercivity, which is the tendency for the media to resist magnetic self-erasure. So I can't necessarily just grab some random tape media such as VHS cassette tape, wind it onto the supply reel, and expect it will work.
Too low coercivity, and the write head output signal will exceed the signal capacity of the tape and partially erase previously written data as the tape advances.
Too high coercivity, such as in modern "high density" data storage media, and the write head will be unable to apply enough magnetic force to write anything to the tape.
