CONEFO as an intergovernmental organization

[edit]

Today I went through some sources in an attempt to find a source for the member states that were listed on the page, which I have since removed after failing to find a source. I also noted some odd things whilst searching. Every source I found that mentions CONEFO only ever did so for about a line and whenver they did it was in the context of "Sukarno wanted to establish CONEFO" none of them going as far as to say it was something he got around to doing. I now firmly think that CONEFO never exsisted as an international organisation. Given how little coverage it seems to be given I feel as though this page may be WP:UNDUE. One of the sources on this page is to a website called JakartaGreat and the article there in the openning blurb says that CONEFO was a thing that was established then doesn't mention this in the actual text of the article. Also the site lists out various blogs as its sources so not a reliable source. DervotNum4 (talk) 04:14, 2 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hi. I have found a couple of references stating that CONEFO met on 24-25 November 1963, following the closure of GANEFO, but you are right to say that is did not actually do much. It was planned to meet in the middle of 1965, but was overtaken by events resulting from the military coup attempt on 30 September 1965. It was a major obsession of Sukarno, and I believe it deserves an article. I'll look put some more references over the next few days. Davidelit (Talk) 04:42, 2 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
