Article looks in a good shape. Outside of scope for DYK, but I wonder if the title of the article should be the full name? The hook could be more interesting if it would say over 99.9%, because that's more impressive and closer to the numbers in the article. Or is there a distinction between the halo and the galaxy proper? No copyvio, and given that the hook and the fact is actually interesting (who doesn't love the mysterious dark matter), happy to approve despite the slightly late submission. @Femke: Sorry, haven't done DYK before - agreed 99.9% sounds better; should I just edit the hook above for this and the hyphen, or is that done separately if it gets actually chosen as a DYK? Also, a good point for the title of the article, I was debating this as well when creating it. My instinct was CDG-2 because it's similar how a lot of galaxies are named for the catalogue number, but those of course don't really stand for something in the same way CDG-2 does... --Nerd1a4i (they/them) (talk) 07:37, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

I have done enough DYKs that I should know the answer, but I'm not 100% sure. For smaller requests to a hook I believe the normal thing is to just amend the hook directly. For bigger changes, you create a new hook called ALT1, ALT2 etc, and the next person who handles the request will choose from all the approved ALTs (the reviewer can approve ALT1 and ALT2, but not the original hook for instance). —Femke 🐦 (talk) 07:49, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

I'm not sure. I googled it, and the sources are inconsistent, so you'd have to do a more systemic search to see what other sources use. One of Wikipedia's criteria for WP:article titles is consistency, so if you say it's common for similar articles to use an abbreviation, that might come into the discussion too.
