Tiny, Short, and Long
[edit]The terms Tiny, Short, and Long used in the article are not terms used in the RFC, however the article leads one to think of them as fundamental CBOR concepts. Should this change? Burt Harris (talk) 17:42, 22 April 2020 (UTC)
Companion RFCs
[edit]cbor.io lists several RFCs related to CBOR, notably COSE and CWT. I am unsure if these specs are notable enough to justify their own articles, but they are linked to from a variety of places. I think that, for now, it is best that these specs be included as sections in the main CBOR article. Bend1010 (talk) 01:09, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
Note about name
[edit]"CBOR is not named after [Carsten] Bormann, despite the format's name coincidentally being an abbreviation of his own". And if I stand in the rain it's just a coincidence I get wet. At least qualify this with "according to Hoffman, this was not named after Bormann" rather than a general claim that tries to hide the fact that it *is* named after Bormann. I would guess that they wanted a name that had Binary Object in it, and realised that if they use "concise" and "Representation" it will be like C BORmann, but then backtracked on the origin story. ~2026-79231-2 (talk) 06:26, 5 February 2026 (UTC)
