What is a "Stall" in this context?
[edit]I'm a native English speaker, but of US English, and yet - while also an anglophile - I don't know what sort of business it was that he had that started with one, soon many and eventually a small empire...
Carnival game entertainments? Merchandise of some sort? Food and drink? What was in these stalls?
