Stage musical
[edit]I suspect the content on a musical version at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney is completely fictional. Not referenced, the The Lion King was playing at the theatre at that time (see https://www.ausstage.edu.au/pages/event/109568), and it lists a bunch of high profile performers who wouldn't be expected to all be in the same cast. Busytown - Father Cat
[edit]+I have just seen an ep of Richard Scarry's, where Father Cat doesn not own a grocery store, as stated in the Wikipedia article, but runs a travel office (in the episode he helps his son, the Cat, to make a geography project for school using various items from his travel office (tralel pictures, folders etc). Did it change? Isyutaru (talk) 10:57, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Goldbug?
[edit]I no longer have my books but I remember a recurring character of Goldbug (at least that's what I called him) that was usually hidden somewhere on the page. I don't know anything about this character but think he deserves an entry on here

Yeah, Goldbug is the character I remember best, 'because I'd always search for him when I was little. --68.96.79.79 (talk) 04:18, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
Busytown Mysteries
[edit]I was watching CBS at 7am on 11/28/09 and reconized the characters, i guess this is a new show. Let's start a section.97.117.133.209 (talk) 14:16, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Missing characters
[edit]I think we should also list the detective characters (Couscous (I am not referring to the rice) etc.) because they have been frequent throughout the series. trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 04:02, 4 May 2010 (UTC).
Actually maybe not as that has only been in the TV series and not in the books. trainfan01 talk 19:27, April 27, 2011 (UTC)
four firefighting pigs [NOT three]

Proposed deletion
[edit]@Piotrus proposed this article for deletion with the following note:
"The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline requirement nor the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (fiction) supplementary essay. WP:BEFORE did not reveal any significant coverage on Gnews, Gbooks or Gscholar. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you. (proposed by Piotrus)"
This article is an overview of a series of books, games and TV shows that are in Richard Scarry's Busy Town (a.k.a. Busytown, a.k.a. Busy World, a.k.a. Busyworld) universe. You can find lots of articles about Richard Scarry that talk about this world as well as articles about individual books, games and shows. I did not find any that were just about "Busy Town". I am removing the deletion note anyway since an umbrella article for all these things. Note that there is also a template associated with this article, Template:Busytown.
If this article is to be deleted, it should be discussed at AfD.

pig accident statistic in Analysis and Criticism
[edit]The Analysis and Criticism section says "Further, pigs were the cause of some 75% of accidents."
However, the John Levi Martin article under discussion here says:
Fully 16% of the pigs are involved in a mishap of some other, far more than any other species, and unlike the other species, they are the cause of the mishap 75% of the time, as opposed to the innocent victim. Less than 2% of the other animals, in contrast, are the cause of a mishap. (p. 219)
This sounds to me like Martin is saying that pigs are the cause of the accident 75% of the time when they are involved in an accident, which is different from saying that they are the cause of 75% of all accidents.
Unfortunately, I do not know whether Martin's data set is available. Mwphil (talk) 00:25, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- It turns out that the dataset is available. Of 19 characters involved in mishaps, 8 were pigs, 6 of whom were certainly at fault; while 11 were of other species, 3 of whom were certainly at fault. The statistic should be that pigs were the cause 75% of the time when they were involved in accidents. I will edit accordingly. Mwphil (talk) 01:34, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
