Correct name

[edit]

correct name is burro. If you want a small burro you would make a burrito. Rice or lettuce was never used in a burro. Thats a Taco bell addition. ~2025-39942-49 (talk) 00:31, 11 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Mostly true, but nobody knows if the California style came before or around the same time as Taco Bell's variation. It's a subject of some debate. There's at least one restaurant or taquería in both North and Southern CA that were using rice and lettuce variations before Taco Bell, I believe. Since this all derives from taco preparations to begin with, I'm curious when cabbage (slaw) was first added to fish tacos, and if it developed out of that style, since cabbage in burritos doesn't really work. I'm guessing Baja California grows cabbage? That would explain why the style originated there and moved northward. Viriditas (talk) 01:17, 11 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Burrito bowl definition

[edit]

There's a modern trend of shaping tortillas into edible bowls for "burrito bowls". One can also add tortilla pieces into a burrito bowl, so it wasn't very accurate to say all burrito bowls have no tortilla. Instead an arguably better definition is that unlike traditional burritos, its ingredients aren't wrapped. So I made corrections. I didn't add in that a tortilla can become the edible bowl as it's not their defining feature, and also it's largely primary sources or food blogs that demonstrates this.
