History Section

[edit]

I am a 3rd year student in a materials science class and can make an edit on wikipedia related to material science for extra credit if it stays up for a month. I think a short history section in either the preface, would be appropriate since there isn't history on Jan Burger's page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jan_Burgers) or in the history section of Dislocation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dislocation#History) about the history of burgers vectors. Willy Burgers (https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willy_Burgers) helped creating it but isn't mentioned. (https://ipst.umd.edu/research/burgers/burgers-bio). WG Burgers called himself "the uncle of the Burgers vector" Rotorjet (talk) 15:45, 19 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
