Definition of "burakumin"
[edit]I think the article at presents implies that burakumin form a somewhat clearly defined group as other ethnic minorities do, when in fact the line is much fuzzier. This academic book review contains a section discussing this, and there are many other articles available. Eldomtom2 (talk) 18:08, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Discrimination from Buddhists
[edit]I am correcting incorrect information written based on misquotes. The state controlled people by forcing them to belong to Buddhist temples, but it did not force each social class to belong to a particular sect, such as the nobility to the Pure Land sect, the samurai class to the Zen sect, and so on. The source text describes the sects that people of each social class believed in most.--SLIMHANNYA (talk) 20:06, 10 February 2023 (UTC)

"Etymology and terminology" section
[edit]It is my understanding that the Japanese "E word" used in the first paragraph of this section is comparable to the "N word" in American English and is not used by most people because of its historical connotation. If others agree perhaps this word should either be removed or its syntax and related controversy be noted explicitly Michaeljmarcus (talk) 14:41, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is not censored, and the simple use of the term is not gratuitous. — Goszei (talk) 21:02, 16 July 2026 (UTC)
