Name should be "Bugolobi"

[edit]

I've never seen the spelling with two "O"s. None of the sources use it either. Keitsist (talk) 17:05, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

BugoloobiBugolobi – Nominated at incorrect venue WP:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2025_September_29#Bugolobi, Theeverywhereperson's rationale is that Bugolobi is the commonly used spelling — 🪫Volatile 📲T | ⌨️C 02:57, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Cursory DuckDuckGo web search supports RfD nom's claim: Nellions Moving & Relocations Uganda (c.2023), Mzikii.com ("3 years ago"), TLG Living Group property developer (2024), Kawe Realtors (2025) all use "Bugolobi" Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 08:11, 30 September 2025 (UTC) clarified 10:13, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
The above results came from querying -wikipedia "neighborhoods" "kampala".
From Google Scholar: for easier counting, I've limited the results to the last five years (since 2021). The loobi spelling yields seventeen (17) results, the lobi one approx. 160. A "review articles only" filter on top of that whittles loobi down to Basika et al 2024 (PDF) and Venning et al 2025, lobi to 11 results (one of which is Basika et al 2024). Move as proposed. Exactly. Move. I will be the one to carry out the move at the removal of the redirect. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 15:40, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
I need to note that the redirect needs to be deleted for the move to take place. I suggest moving the redirect to, say, Bugolooobi or something, then moving the article to Bugolobi and moving the redirect to Bugolobi. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 15:46, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yep, that's called a round robin move. If the page closes as move, someone with the page mover permission will take care of it. — 🪫Volatile 📲T | ⌨️C 16:53, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Theeverywhereperson: the closing instructions for requested moves disallows you from closing this discussion. Instead, after seven days have passed, you may submit a neutrally phrased request at Wikipedia:Closure requests for this to be closed. As VolatileAnomaly said, the closer will carry out any moves if needed. Courtesy ping to Yue as I've pinged the other participants so far. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 10:13, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
I already know that as I read that page after commenting. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 14:40, 1 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
Point 1 of Wikipedia:Closure requests contradicts it anyway. There has been no opposing faction, so after 48 hours from the posting of this messgae, one of us may:
  1. Implement the round robin move anyway since the consensus is clear
  2. Submit the move review if any new participant opposes the move.
If any non-participant sees this, submit your actual opinion. Don't be funny and oppose if you want the move to happen. Theeverywhereperson (talk here) 07:25, 4 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
