Sub-classes

The FTPE order is sub-class 802/2. The Hull Trains order will be 802/3. My attempts to insert that on the page keep getting reverted. I'll get some sources and come back later to prove the facts. --Spookster67 (talk) 21:02, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

While I don't doubt you I'd like to respectfully point out that it's not appropriate to include information that's not publicly announced and therefore unverifiable. Technically TPE shouldn't even be listed here, I suspect hull trains shouldn't either - perhaps a passing mention of their orders being likely to be similar would be more appropriate for now. 79.66.236.36 (talk) 22:33, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

The Hull trains and TPE have both been referred to as Hitachi AT300s, another name for the Class 802. Absolutelypuremilk (talk) 06:45, 13 April 2016 (UTC)

The Hull Trains potential fleet is referred to as Class 802 in the Track Access Agreement, whereas the TPE order is referred to as AT300 (which doesn't necessarily mean Class 802).Spookster67 (talk) 20:06, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

The FirstGroup order for East Coast Open access had been added as Class 802. Given that it is electric only, not bi-mode, I think it might be an 801 (but LNER 801s have a GU, and these don't), but is more likely an 803. I've edited the text to 80x for now, a generic name for 800 series variants of IEP and AT300 Hitachi units. Spookster67 (talk) 11:34, 26 March 2019 (UTC)

Formation

Have altered the formation re this cite https://eversholtrail.co.uk/fleet/class-802/ Only the five car have a composite coach of first and standard seating. An explanation of those letters needs to be put some where. ie DPTS=DrivingcabPantographTrailerStandard class. MS=Motor Standard class, TS= Trailer Standard, MF=MotorFirstclass MC=MotorComposite (first and standard) DPTF+ DrivingcabPantographTrailerFirstclass. REVUpminster (talk) 19:09, 3 February 2020 (UTC)

Completion of Class 802 production

The builds for each of GWR, TPE and Hull Trains are all now complete, and hence there are no further Class 802 units still in production. The "year built" and "construction" data can therefore correctly be shown as 2017-2020. Spookster67 (talk) 14:21, 8 April 2020 (UTC)

802- 800301-21

Hasn't the 802s on GWR been renumbered 800301-21 for the nine cars. 5 cars being numbered 800001-036. There are no class 802s numbered on GWR now.

Since IP editors can't seem to grasp the concept of WP:BRD, I suppose I'll start the discussion yet again...

In my opinion, the current infobox image is rather overexposed and should be replaced. My proposal is image 1, however at various times IPs have flicked between the other images in the list. What do people think, or do people have other suggestions?

My thoughts are as follows:

1. Although slightly older, it's the best quality image I could find in my opinion. Also breaks up the monotony of GWR images which most of the artiel uses.
2. Far too zoomed out, you can barely see the train.
3. A bit too zoomed out still, and overexposed
4. Would be perfect except for the reflections breaking up the front corner lines, making it hard to make out the shape of the unit

It's definitely improved - my main concern has always been the sun reflecting off the yellow front end however... it's closer to white when compared to other images IMHO Danners430 (talk) 14:25, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
