Perhaps not. I reverted a change of the lead image because the new image was not very clear about what it is of. The book page is, perhaps, clear, but it is also just a picture of text. Not great! It is hard to see what is better. Also, as there is a WP:SIDEBAR, there is at least one guideline (widely ignored, and perhaps contradicted elsewhere) that says SIDEBARS go top right in an article. I agree that image wasn't clear enough for a lead image, in several ways. I did go down the rabbit hole so FYI it's from the 1922 edition of William Gordon Mackendrick's The Destiny of Britain and America, published in Toronto by McClelland & Stewart "with an Appendix Who Are the Japanese?". A scanned copy's in the Internet Archive, other illustrations from it are on Commons (none much clearer, one a complicated map of how the British reached Britain from Palestine), and a note on Commons suggests one of our sources for this article may refer to it or him (Barkun 2014, p87).
