Notability

[On 23 September 2025 I tagged the page for notability issues, and the page's author posted the following on my Talk Page, which I am posting here for greater visibility--Cabrils]

For some unknown reason a notability warning was somehow placed onto the Brightspeed page although the article has multiple major sources. How could the article's notabilities be questioned when the article was created almost three years ago and the notability did not get contested around those times? The page history identifies the page as being created on 17 January 2025, not three years ago?

All pages on Wikipedia are subject to perpetual review. In this case, the page had not been marked as reviewed (at any time) and so appeared in a list of pages needing review.

Rather than nominating the page for deletion, I felt the better path was to tag it as having questionable notability, which in my view it has. To me it seems WP:ROTM, and I'm not sure the sources meet WP:NCORP. One of the links, "Brightspeed is Taking over CenturyLink in Kansas", no longer works.

The page will remain published but the tag identifies an issue that should be addressed.

It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying below the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject.

It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:NCORP because XXXXX").

Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link). It would be helpful if you could please clarify if this is the case?

I don't have a conflict of interest on this or Simple English Wikipedias. I would not ever edit Wikipedia for money whatsoever; furtherly, I ain't paid for editing. I edit Wikipedias because I want to contribute, help out and because it's one of several hobbies which I enjoy. I also enjoy editing Wikipedia out of love, respect, actual trust and also by the fact I'm not one who likes sitting around to watch television all day (that's laziness). I love creating articles on these Wikipedias, fighting vandalism, adding reference sources for proving actual facts (though I get embarrassed with when my edits get reverted / taken away even when they are accurate). I have no connection to Brightspeed or to most of any other subject on Wikipedia 'cause that would compromise my official editing talents or abilities let alone privilege or rights. The company is a major incumbent local exchange carrier. It's not run-of-the-mill by any reasonable definition, if only for the regulatory requirements. Landline phone companies are not common businesses that anyone can start. They're inherently notable (yes, such a thing does exist, and the sources in this article already demonstrate notability anyway). The tag was placed by someone with insufficient knowledge of the subject matter. oknazevad (talk) 05:36, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
