As of late 2025, BTN's YouTube channel has over one million subscribers[1] and its Instagram account has over 500,000 followers.[2]

In June 2020, BTN's founders registered BreakThrough Media (BT Media) as a non-profit organization.[1]

BTN's content is primarily video-based, distributed through YouTube and social media platforms. Its regular programming includes several hosted shows: The Socialist Program with Brian Becker, a political commentary program; Rania Khalek Dispatches, a current affairs interview and analysis show; The Freedom Side, co-hosted by Eugene Puryear and Rania Khalek; and The China Report, a program on China and U.S.–China relations co-hosted by journalist Amanda Yee and political analyst KJ Noh and produced in collaboration with Pivot to Peace.[1][2] These programs are also distributed as podcasts.[3][4]

The NCRI published a report in May 2024 citing Bredderman entitled "Contagious Disruption: How CCP Influence and Radical Ideologies Threaten Critical Infrastructure and Campuses Across the United States," stating that BreakThrough News is part of what it calls the 'Singham network,' which it describes as "a wide range of nonprofits, alternative media outlets, and donor organizations that have been funneling undisclosed funds and disseminating CCP-supported agendas and narratives into the United States since at least 2017."[1] The NCRI report's characterization of the campus protest movement drew criticism from some academics and civil liberties advocates.[1]
