Awards removed

[edit]

A single-edit IP-address user removed sourced material pertaining to a state-level award and county-level award and a quotation while leaving a derogatory comment in the edit summary in violation of WP:SUMMARYNO, WP:ESDONTS, MOS:DOUBT, WP:NPOV, and WP:BLP. I have not restored the awards pending any consensus discussion for or against (I can go either way). Q: Is there anything wrong with including non-national awards in a BLP? True, they can't be used to establish national or international notability to qualify for an article. 5Q5| 11:59, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

I do think a local award could be used to establish notability if the local award was itself notable enough to qualify for a Wikipedia article, with the article evidence that it has national notability. In this instance, however, the two Utah-only awards, Broker of the Year and Titan Award do not qualify to have their own articles. WP:HTRIVIA says: "Remember to challenge or remove trivia items that aren't sourced, especially in biographies." Here, though, the deleted material was sourced and winning an award is beyond trivial. 5Q5| 12:49, 24 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
