[edit]On the etymology of this name we have a typical situation were a bunch of conjectural but "referenced" explanations overcome the obvious but unreferenced: Gr. - Dear Euzen (Εὐ ζῆν, I presume), let me be honest on this. I am an amateur linguist and I developed myself the theory about the Baltic/Celtic/Slavic "black/crow" being related to the Greek "μέλας". The first two etymological theories ("duvet" and "burn scar") were contributed by other friends that share the same surname. As to the last historical one, which you consider "obvious", it does seem plausible and the tracing of that Albanian counselor of Skanderbeg does fortify the case but we have not spotted any further evidence on it (the Venice or Naples Archives have not answered to our enquiries yet) so ...
