There are uncited statements, including almost the entire "Birds" section. At over 9,000 words, WP:TOOBIG recommends splitting off the article; since this is such a big topic, it might not be possible but should probably be considered after a subject-matter expert tries making this more concise. The "Society and culture" section is underdeveloped, with only one line about its use in food and no information about its use in literature or the arts, especially its use as an allegory. Title and citation replacement suggestions

As this page cannot be edited by users who are not logged in, I would like to suggest the following changes to content added on the 28th November 2017:

- That the title Society and culture should be changed to Food and rituals

- That the source on this copy "Some archaeological evidence suggests that the mourning rituals of European Neanderthals also involved the consumption of the brain." should be changed to https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-025-86093-w as the current one is now quite dated and unavailable to view entirely online 86.21.9.176 (talk) 12:31, 18 October 2025 (UTC)

Mentions of a persevered human brain in Areni cave.

The source for this is severely outdated, I also see no recent articles covering it. If this is true there also should be a separate article dedicated to it. But I can't seem to find one, nor is there a section dedicated to it for the Areni Cave article. I don't think it should be mentioned because of this. But, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.  Not done - these publications are not about the brain. They fall under WP:CRYSTAL as possible future experimental lab models and are limited as WP:MEDINVITRO. Zefr (talk) 20:39, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
