Passé
In 2025, Walls produced Passé, a series of aerial photographs of ballet
dancers named after the passé position.
Developed over roughly three years, it was shot in a single eight-hour session in
a New York warehouse with around 60 dancers from New York City Ballet,
American Ballet Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet School and Ballet East. Costumed
in white, they were arranged on a red carpet and
photographed from directly overhead.
The series was shown as a pop-up exhibition at 347 Broome Street in Manhattan
from 12 to 14 September 2025. The space was finished entirely in red and reused
the carpet from the shoot, with sixteen life-sized prints hung at eye
level. Writing for Forbes,
Tom Teicholz described the compositions as cinematic in the manner of
Busby Berkeley.

Two notes for the reviewing editor: the Forbes piece is a contributor byline and may fall under WP:FORBESCON — I have used it only for uncontested descriptive detail and one attributed critical comment. Sources also conflict on whether the dancers came from the Joffrey Ballet School or The Joffrey Ballet; Designboom says the former and I have followed it. ~2026-42624-69 (talk) 15:49, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
