Boris Knyazev → ? – Per WP:COMMONNAME and WP:NCP (Naming conventions for people), the article title should reflect the name most commonly used in reliable secondary sources. Major authority control records, including the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), list the subject under the heading Boris Kniaseff. This form is also used as the primary title in other language editions of Wikipedia and in library catalogues, while Boris Knyazev represents a direct transliteration variant from Russian. I propose moving the article to Boris Kniaseff and retaining Boris Knyazev as a redirect, with both spellings acknowledged in the lead. Nsaa (talk) 15:55, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Requested move from Boris Knyazev to Boris Kniaseff
[edit]I propose that this article be moved from Boris Knyazev to Boris Kniaseff, with Boris Knyazev retained as a redirect. This proposal is based on English Wikipedia’s naming policies, authority control data, and usage in reliable secondary sources.
Why; Major library authority files list this individual under the name Boris Kniaseff. The Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) authority record uses the heading: Kniaseff, Boris (1900–1975) "Boris Kniaseff". data.bnf.fr. Retrieved 2026-01-01. The same form is reflected in international authority aggregators such as VIAF and ISNI via Wikidata "Boris Kniaseff". Wikidata. Retrieved 2026-01-01.
This proposal aligns with the following English Wikipedia policies and guidelines WP:COMMONNAME Article titles should use the name most commonly used in reliable sources. WP:ARTICLETITLE Titles should be recognizable, natural, precise, concise, and consistent. WP:NCP (Naming conventions for people) When multiple spellings or transliterations exist, the form most commonly used in reliable English-language sources should be preferred, with redirects from alternative forms, and WP:REDIRECT Alternative spellings should redirect to the main article title. See also Wikipedia:Article_titles, Wikipedia:Naming_conventions_(people), Wikipedia:Common_name
Ergo move the article to Boris Kniaseff, with a redirect from Boris Knyazev and change the heading to Boris Kniaseff (also spelled Boris Knyazev; Russian: Борис Алексеевич Князев)…
