Definition of political border?

[edit]

Not offered, and that renders the article almost useless.

What is the legal definition of "political border"? The UN probably has the relevant definition.

Do both sides need to agree on a boundary to make it become a border? Are de facto boundaries either of unrecognised states, or of states with unresolved territorial conflicts, "borders" under international law? So, is border a legal term with a precise definition, beyond its daily-use meaning? Arminden (talk) 08:24, 16 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Question regarding "border"

[edit]

When recently editing an article that mentioned both land and maritime borders, I found that I was unable to add an understandable. Apparently, land border redirects to political border, whereas maritime border leads to an unclear article. Thus, I came here to realise that the entire concept of a "border" could be better defined. This could be my own mistake for overlooking a detail, but nonetheless, I feel that the concept of borders could be clearer. Could I please have some advice on how to proceed?
