Notes for myself, RHaworth for expansion of the article:

• Letter from Lord Salisbury, former chairman of the Advisory Housing Panel of the Reconstruction Committee, to the Minister of Reconstruction, about the Local Government Board housing scheme, including suggestions for financial assistance to private enterprise.
• Housing and Town Planning Act 1919 aka the Addison Act after Christopher Addison who, as Minister of Health introduced the Bill.
• I saw a book (!) today which said that a capital subsidy of £260 per house was paid.
• Not this sort of boot house!

reconstruction

I know this is an infantessimal stub right now. What change to building codes has led to the exterior walls needing to be reconstructed? Here in Australia, poured-on-site concrete walls are just starting to be the big thing for commercial/industrial and I have heard of a couple of residential developments using the method. (walls are poured "laid down" on the ground, with windows / doors boxed out, then the wall is stood up with a crane and the building assembled) Garrie 22:51, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
