What about the main meaning, which is absent here?
[edit]According to this prestigious dictionary, a bonnet is "a hat tied with strings under the chin, worn by babies and, especially in the past, by women". 85.193.247.94 (talk) 00:32, 9 December 2019 (UTC)
Bonnet, a rectangular or trapezoidal sail attachment
[edit]Bkonrad removed "Bonnet, a sail that was historically used on larger sailing ships, where it is a rectangular or trapezoidal sail that was attached to the lower part of a main sail or a fore-and-aft sail. Bonnets were used to increase the sail area and provide more power." because no linked article supporting the claimed usage. DL5MDA (talk) 17:19, 23 April 2026 (UTC)
- Since disambiguation pages are meant to help readers find articles that may have ambiguous titles, it is a basic expectation that every dab entry have a blue link that leads to an article with some relevant content about the term. older ≠ wiser 18:03, 23 April 2026 (UTC)

Article "Bonnet (sail)": False claim of copyright infringement
[edit]To Cosmic840, Whpq, Diannaa and Orange_sticker: This is about your speedy deletion of the articles "Bonnet Sail" and "Bonnet (sail)". The content of the articles was based on (1) The Elements and Practice of Rigging And Seamanship by (1794) by David Steel, Chapter Sail Making, p. 84, (2) the The Sailor's Word-Book by (1867) by Admiral William Henry Smyth and Sir Edward Belcher, and (3) the history section in the Wikipedia article reefing. These sources have no copyright. Would you please have the kindness to explain why those articles "appear to be an unambiguous copyright infringement"? DL5MDA (talk) 08:37, 25 April 2026 (UTC)
