• Oppose: I think this event just about passes WP:NOYEAR based on its impact in Australia. Two years on and it is still having an impact on Australia Two years on and it is still having a clear impact in the country's policies. oppose per @Raskuly; WP:NOYEAR reads "The month or days should not be used in the title unless other descriptors are insufficient to establish the identity of the incident". Bondi Junction is an incredibly low-crime area. To put this into perspective (as I live in this area), people just say "the stabbings" because this event is the only thing that could be referring to. "Bondi Junction stabbings" appears to still be the common established name – aesurias (ping me in your reply, or I won't see it) (talk) 05:06, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Oppose, as per @Raskuly. By way of another example, we lived through the Black Saturday Fires. No-one calls them the 2009 Black Saturday Fires. And yes, like the Bondi Junction stabbings, they were notable. Dropbear2 (talk) 05:55, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

Oppose. Usually I support these moves but this one seems historical enough to have a year per NOYEAR. Though it might be too soon to say either way - might be worth checking up in a few years, but this one is more notable than usual. PARAKANYAA (talk) 08:21, 8 August 2026 (UTC)

• Oppose per WP:NOYEAR, the event can easily be described without the year and adding a year when it isn't needed for disambiguation nor an intrinsic part of the event like 2026 East Surrey Council election per WP:PRECISION and User:Born2cycle/Unnecessary disambiguation is not helpful and suggests there was another stabbing in a different year since I doubt the 2025 shooting would be ambiguous with this one. Oppose. Unless there is a similar attack that we should be aware of, it is not helpful to add an unnecessary disambiguation to the title. This topic was litigated extensively in the previous discussion and I think that should have settled the debate without a doubt.

I also support removing the year from the 2025 Bondi Beach shooting article as the topic has huge historical significance, it is one of the worst attacks of its kind in Australia, the proposed legislative changes that have arisen following those attacks, and has had an extensive aftermath with the Royal Commission on Antisemitism and Social Cohesion and all the news that has come out of those hearings Qwerty123M (talk) 12:02, 9 August 2026 (UTC)
