Francisation of Bullen?

[edit]

What evidence is there that Boleyn is a Francisation of Bullen, as the page asserts? Both are derivatives of Boulogne and Boleyn is merely a medieval spelling of Boulogne. It is much more likely that Boleyn was a direct successor spelling to Boulogne and that it was never adapted from Bullen. Bullen was simply a different choice of spelling which some of the Boulogne descendants chose. The Boleyn family sometimes chose ‘Boullan’. Perhaps this misleading first sentence can be removed? 2A00:23C7:86A4:C601:4ED:7F9D:79EE:50D5 (talk) 20:19, 5 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
