Importance Change

Especially with the growth of social media standards and a shift in culture in general, I believe that body shaming is a pretty important topic to discuss. Thus, I have changed the importance from low to mid. Pouchwarm (talk) 03:02, 29 September 2023 (UTC)

Children only?

'In a study of children's film and books regarding messages about the importance of appearance, media targeted toward children were heavily saturated with messages emphasizing attractiveness as an important part of relationships and interpersonal interaction.'

True, as far as it goes, but such messages are very widespread and the norm in advertising to adults. The fashion, cosmetics, 'life style' and many / most other industries present the same emphasis about attractiveness to everyone, not just to children.

No sections?

This article has no sections besides body and references. Can I add a section title between the first paragraph, which reads like an article lead, and the rest of the information? I was thinking a simple "Background" section would help break it up and make it fit the style of most articles.
