Related to Robert Sloman?

As Robert Sloman was born in Oldham at the same time as Robert Sloman (rugby league) was playing rugby league for Oldham, could they be related? Robert Sloman's obituary states "Although he was born in Oldham, his Devonian family returned to Plymouth when Bob was two", i.e. circa 1928-29 which coincides with the end of Robert Sloman (rugby league)'s career at Oldham, and Robert Sloman (rugby league) was likely born January→March in Stoke Damerel, Devon. Birth?

Though not usable in Wikipedia, as it's original research WP:OR, FreeBMD doesn't have the birth of a Rob(*) Sloman registered between 1889→1906, i.e. a birth date coinciding with a 1921–29 playing era, in the rugby league areas of Cheshire, Cumberland, Lancashire, or Yorkshire, nor in the rugby union area of Wales, but has births during January→March 1898 (i.e. aged-23 in 1921, so more likley) in Stoke Damerel, Devon, and January→March 1906 (i.e. aged-15 in 1921, so less likley) in Bridport, Dorset, are either of these this Robert Sloman?
