His death was announced on September 6th, but it states on his home page he died on september 2nd. The article contains both. The date needs to be confirmed and fixed.

Where's Gilligan?

Why is there almost nothing in the article about his role in Gilligan's island? Meanwhile, there's a huge paragraph on the marijuana charge. There's definitely some bias going on there.BashBrannigan (talk) 00:05, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

¶ A line I inserted describing his subsequent, short-lived, Saturday morning kiddy show, FAR OUT SPACE NUTS, as the story of two not-too-bright spaceship mechanics (Denver, and Chuck McCann), accidentally launched into space and landing in a "Gilligan-like existence" on a planet with exotic characters was gratuitously erased (primarily as undocumented). Hardly anyone thought the 12-episode series worth analyzing but a couple of episodes are preserved in YouTube and I think it is clear to anyone who bothers to watch those videos that my description was accurate. SPACE NUTS was, if that were possible, more cheaply done and with more childish plots than Gilligan's Island - with a good deal inspired by Lost in Space and maybe early Doctor Who (without the frisson caused by Ginger and/or Maryanne), but the attempt to squeeze that rind for one more taste of Gilligan is fairly obvious. Personal Life

Bob Denver was married four times and had four children: daughters Megan and Emily, and sons Patrick and Colin. “People assume that if they’ve seen you on TV for decades, you must be rich,” said fourth wife Dreama. “But back in those days, actors didn’t know about residuals”. Denver’s weekly salary on Gilligan’s Island never exceeded $1,500, and the actors were paid off completely after all the episodes ran twice in the 1960s. “We lived hand-to-mouth for a lot of our marriage,” says Dreama. Finances were especially rough after their son, Colin, who has severe autism and a seizure disorder, was born in 1984. Soon after, the couple moved to Bluefield, W. Va., about 10 miles from Princeton, where Dreama grew up. They devoted themselves full-time to caring for their son.

Some of this information seems to have been removed. As it stands the “Personal Life” section is really anemic and badly focused. The marijuana charge seems to be there because it’s well-documented and easily verifiable, not because it’s a particularly important or meaningful fact about the man’s personal life. Meanwhile the fact that he was married four times is not even mentioned except in the infobox. This section could really use some loving attention from a fan. Bob Denver was raised in New Rochelle, NY

I found an article indicating this fact in the Brownwood News of Brownwood Texas. I'm hoping I cited it correctly and I'm not sure I did. Perhaps someone better at coding can fix any mistakes. It's displaying fine on the actual page. Thanks. Joejinks (talk) 21:46, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

I lived in Brownwood, Texas 30 years and I've researched Bob Denver's early days for about 15 years. Bob was born AND raised in New Rochelle, NY. The family moved to Brownwood, Texas in January 1951 when he was 16 years old. Bob's mom officially registered him for 11th grade in March 1951 but school was out for the year in May 1951 so it's possible Bob never attended class in Brownwood since it was so late in the year and he was a smart kid and may have had enough credits from his previous school in NY. This scholastic registration card is the ONLY evidence that Bob ever lived in Brownwood. Also, Bob never appeared in any Brownwood school yearbook. By September 1951, he was registered and attending David Starr Jordan high school in Long Beach, Calif. He was involved in water polo and the NRA rifle team. There are numerous pictures of him in the school's Trailblazer yearbook. He continued on with his senior year 1953 at the same school and graduated. He was involved with water polo, Sword and Scabbard and the NRA rifle team. Again, he is picture numerous times in the yearbook. It is stated in practically every Bob Denver bio that he was raised in Brownwood and graduated high school there. Both are VERY untrue.
