Tennessee Williams

[edit]

Although probably not consciously a reference, Tennessee Williams' character Laura in The Glass Menagerie is associated with 'Blue Roses' because a boy she had had a childhood crush on used to call her that at school. She had been suffering from Pleurosis and when he asked her what it was she was so shy she whispered it. He misheard it as 'Blue Roses' and called her that from then on.
