Blue duck (as of this rev)
  • Is zenodo.org a reliable source..?
  • In the {{Anserimorphae}} navbox, article's title should be directly linked per WP:NAVNOREDIRECT.
  • 4th further reading material has an unknown URL status..
  • Is that many external links needed, are they inline with WP:EL..?
  • Add a translated title to ref 5.
  • The lead section appears to be too long and in-depth, please condense the details to 3 paragraphs at least...

I went through the article and didn't find any other issues... Vestrian24Bio 04:11, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Sddarealone: that's all I got, ping me when you're done addressing these.. Vestrian24Bio 04:11, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Vestrian24Bio: Thanks for your suggestions, Vestrian24Bio. I did a few of them and at the same time had the following feedback about others.
  • Pardon me but can you let me know which ref in the article uses zenodo.org as a source?
  • The article title is linked under Anserimorphae navbox in Anatidae family under Tadorninae tribe.
  • All the EL are from reliable and independent sources; also they have distinct information about the bird.
  • If you look carefully, the lede covers all the vital information given in the body, trimming further which will not summarize the article well. I'll have to exclude a few sections to reduce it further if you insist.

@Vestrian24Bio: I have completed all your suggestions. Can you take a look? Thanks. Also, at the same time you can update me on your GARC nomination's progress. Sddarealone (talk) 03:49, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Vestrian24Bio: I replaced the zenodo source now. I still think the Navbox is correct because Hymenolaimus is the genus name of the blue duck and it's the only member in that. Just to the left of Hymenolaimus, there is Cyanochen which also has a same pattern (one bird only). Sddarealone (talk) 09:27, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I'll do the spot-check in a while.. Vestrian24Bio 11:22, 26 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Vestrian24Bio: Pinged to further provide any updates in the review. Sddarealone (talk) 18:23, 27 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Blue ducks also utilise more visual cues than tactical ones to scrape small chironomid larvae from submerged surfaces. Hence a disruption in water clarity in streams can significantly affect the duck's foraging patterns.
36doi.orgweb.archive.org Goodpdf source pg. 118 (corrected) When exploiting the small sessile chironomid and cased caddis fly larvae, which can be scraped from rock surfaces, tactile cues from the bill are likely to be the primary cue used to guide behaviour. Hence, the birds can ‘forage blindly’ on, between and beneath rocks for these prey types. However, visually guided foraging is required when Blue Ducks are exploiting the larger and more nutritious prey (swimming mayfly and active stonefly larvae) that are highly mobile within the water column. ... However, this visually guided foraging by Blue Ducks implies that decreased water clarity is likely to reduce foraging success, particularly for these larger mobile prey.
The nesting period of Blue duck occurs between August and December. They builds their nest using sticks and grasses that are found hidden under rocks, caves, logs and in thick riverside vegetation. Also the nests are found in hollow logs, small caves and in wildlife parks such as Staglands Wildlife Reserve.

@Sddarealone: 3 samples check out, as for the other source (ref 36); I don't have access to the source and the doi site only has an abstract. If you could transcribe the specific source quotes for the text; I could verify it. Vestrian24Bio 10:25, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Vestrian24Bio: Thanks for the spotcheck, Vestrian. I've made a quick correction to the text following a read of the source which I've attached above with the supporting quotes. Also here's how the new text version looks like: Blue ducks also utilise more tactile cues than visual ones to scrape small chironomid larvae from submerged surfaces. Hence a disruption in water clarity in streams can significantly affect the duck's visual foraging patterns. Sddarealone (talk) 12:34, 28 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Alright then, Source spot-check: pass. Vestrian24Bio 10:44, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
